Renown Master Plan Improvements
Clark/Sullivan Construction successfully delivered the Renown Health Master Plan Improvements across both the Renown Regional Medical Center and Renown South Meadows campuses. This complex, multi-phase project encompassed more than 170,000 square feet of renovations and new additions, carefully sequenced to maintain continuous hospital operations.
The overall master plan project was divided into more than 18 distinct phases. Due to the nature of working within two active hospital campuses, this phasing strategy was critical not only for efficiency, but also for the safety of patients, staff, and visitors. It required an exceptional level of coordination between the construction team and Renown Health to ensure seamless execution while minimizing disruption to ongoing medical services.
Key Project Components Included:
- Renown Regional Medical Center
- Tahoe Tower NICU/PICU – Level 5
- Tahoe Tower ICU Fit-Out – Level 9
- Central Utility Plant
- Liquid Oxygen Yard Addition
- Renown South Meadows
- Campus Renovations
- Capri Building Renovations
- Inpatient Nursing Unit – Level 1
- Inpatient Nursing Unit – Level 2
The project required extensive coordination with multiple agencies having jurisdiction, including the City of Reno Building Department, City of Reno Fire Department, and the State Fire Marshal. Close collaboration was also maintained with key utility providers, including NV Energy (power and natural gas) and Truckee Meadows Water Authority, to support both temporary and permanent infrastructure installations.
Due to the age and complexity of certain facilities, portions of the work involved hazardous materials abatement. While some areas—such as the South Meadows campus and select portions of the Regional campus—were exempt, other zones required careful asbestos abatement to safely accommodate demolition and renovation activities.
Through detailed planning, rigorous coordination, and phased execution, the project team successfully delivered critical healthcare upgrades while minimizing disruption to ongoing patient care and facility operations.
