C/S recently completed a full historic renovation and structural retrofit of the Heroes Memorial Building, located across from the Nevada State Capitol in Carson City, Nevada. The 18,000 square-foot renovation enhances the administrative operations of the Attorney General’s Office, which now occupies the updated facility.

The seismic retrofit work was extensive. The scope included drilling more than 4,500 structural dowels, retrofitting existing foundations, over-excavating to install new foundations, installing interior structural steel brace frames, and providing significant lateral and gravity shoring to protect the in-place exterior walls and roof throughout construction.

Originally built in 1921 and listed on the Nevada Historic Register, the building required careful preservation of its historic character. Key elements restored and maintained include the exterior windows, the interior central stairwell, and the historic brick façade.

The project also included the full replacement of the existing central utility plant.

All work was completed while the adjacent building remained fully operational.
